What to Expect
Tesla Motors is seeking an internship for Field Support Engineer in Korea. The Asia Pacific Field Support Engineering team is a key connection point between our Asia Pacific’s service centers and the development and production teams in Silicon Valleny, California and Shanghai. This position will be responsible for keeping our vehicles on the road through proactive analyses of the vehicle fleet and to reduce their time spent in service centers by effective remote/on-site diagnostic works. This role requires efficiently work with large amounts of data to process information and make the correct conclusions in a timely manner. This role requires the candidate having strong technical background for diagnosing complex electromechanical systems with heavy software content and deployed in safety-critical applications. This engineer is passionate about diagnostics, systemically thinking with great understanding technical system-level architecture and issues. Providing high level of support to the Asia Pacific Field Support Engineers, Product Support Engineers, Software/Hardware developers, Marketing, Sales, Compliance, Legal & Business Resolution Team. This position will report to the Senior Field Support leadership of the region.
What You’ll Do
Learn how to debug systems and perform diagnostics on field failures both remotely - looking at data logged by the vehicle, and directly in the field
Support field issue investigation with a wide range of troubleshooting techniques and remote diagnosis, travel might be required to perform field diagnosis or repair. The position sitting within Korea region and require daily support for Korea mainly but work for Asia Pacific Zone.
Provide technical support to local service centers to minimize vehicle downtime, through day-to-day coverage of escalated zone level service cases escalated internationally in a timely manner.
Regular collaboration with Regional Technical Support Specialists to ensure consistent and stable global service operations
Provide Technical information/support to the Regional Technical Specialist network
Support Product Support Engineers to ensure new issues are fully investigated and that countermeasures are in place
Support Product Support Engineers, Product Excellence, and Failure Analysis team members to perform further root cause analysis on field failures by component/subsystem owners where necessary
Assist Projects and support Product Support Engineers to evaluate vehicle new design features/fixes and perform regional testing
Support developing diagnostic tooling or equipment required by local regulation where necessary. Both at a Software and Hardware level
On boarding to firmware OTA(Over-The-Air) process of Asia Pacific and support OTA filing to local authorities.
Provide data or technical topics related reports on local recall, service campaign or answering for RFI (Request for Information) from authorities
Recognize trends and patterns in field failures and provide written feedback to Product Support Engineers to drive future designs
Support with high level Incident response requests and market specific feature and homologation verification activities
What You’ll Bring
Preferably studying towards a degree in Electrical/Electronic/ Mechatronics Engineering field
Capable of self-reliant working in a fast paced and always changing environment
Personality with hands-on-mentality and proactive way of working & thinking
The ability to keep an overview and improve processes
Availability for occasional off-hours work and traveling
Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skill
Native in Korean and fluent in English
